Silver-washed Fritillaries are just dazzling. This fresh individual was cruising the grassy track at the southern edge of Crow Wood picking fights with the Meadow Browns and Commas there. It did rest when the sun went behind the clouds and allowed me to get quite close but was off again as soon as the sun reappeared. I think there are three or four individuals in our little wood and probably ten times this amount in the whole of Old Park Wood. This butterfly is one of the delights of summer.
